A situation in which words cannot be conveyed and communication is not possible can be very unsettling for both you and the other person.
However, if you can at least say hello, the atmosphere of the place will soften and you can create a situation where it is easy to communicate slowly even with clumsy words.

Greetings are very important in Japan.
Even if you don't understand difficult words, if you can greet the other person and open up to them, your hard work will be conveyed to them, and they will try to understand your thoughts.
